What the badge
asks of us
The program philosophy, the expectations every player agrees to, and what the crest stands for.
Program Philosophy
Decisions made in the program are made with the best interests of the student-athletes in mind. However, it must be noted that the coaching staff must consider the interests of ALL the athletes in the program.
The soccer program exists to support the academic program of CPHS.
Academics are a top priority. However, that does not mean that it is permissible to miss a soccer event to do academic work. Time management is but one valuable skill that athletic participation can teach. Athletes should attend tutorials as needed to keep up with their academic responsibilities.
Safety of the athletes is always the first priority.
Coach's Expectations
- All meetings with parents will be with parents, players, and two Cedar Park High School coaches.
- All players must wear the Cedar Park Girls Soccer practice uniform every day at practice.
- All players must sign and obey the Cedar Park Girls Soccer Handbook at all times.
- Letterman jackets can be purchased during the year by families whose athletes have played half a season on Varsity, but will not be worn on the sideline at games, during warm ups, or prior to a game.
- Any bullying concerns will be sent directly to the office and administration will go through the protocols.
- Coaches make decisions best for the team and program.
- All players will practice unless they have seen the trainer and the trainer tells the coaches they are too injured to practice. If injured in club, at home, or at school, players must see trainers before school. Otherwise they are expected to practice.
- If players play club and have multiple games in one weekend, they must communicate to their coach 24 hours ahead of the games and will be given an alternative workout to do while the team practices.
Academics & Game Day Rules
Academics
- School exists for academics.
- Athletes are not allowed to participate in contests representing the school if not eligible in all classes. (UIL Rule)
- Athletes do continue to participate in practice even though they are ineligible.
- Grade checks are conducted by the coaches every grading period (2 weeks).
Game Day Rules
- All players must ride the bus to away games.
- JV away games: players may ride home with a parent if the parent submits a request in writing 24 hours before the game. A coach must "see" a parent before a player will be allowed to leave.
- JV home games: JV players are expected to support the Varsity team by fielding balls during games. A schedule will be distributed prior to the first home game.
- All Varsity players must ride the bus to and from away games.
- Parents are not allowed on the field or track before or after games unless prior permission is granted by the administration and/or the coaches.
